Anybody using this external pump or tried it.its the self priming 3000gph pump.the price cant be beat at under $175.00.but the ads i found are vage with info.such as heat transfer and noise.if anyone has tried it let me know.

Well i bought a new externel pump the life gard quiet one.1140gphI'm running it in a closed loop.and i have noticed my water temp go 3 degrese and lights have not even come yet.i guesse my question is,is normal for a external pump to raise temps or do i hase a pump problem?

that is a very good question.and i'm no exspert but i would say yes if they are left dirty for long periods of time.if you think about it, old bulbs can cause algea blooms just as adding new bulbs can.i clean my MH atleast once a week with vingar.salt creep can cause alot light loss.IMHO

thanks for the replies.I wound up going with a rainbow lifegard quite one. 1140 gph extenal.got a hell of deal new on it.i should have it tommorow.i will hook this to the $40 wave maker and should be good.since the sump im building will flow alot also.that is where thr quite one 6000 will come...

unless i missed something .it sounds to me like it is a fire coral,and there not really a coral but related to the jelly fish family.
