Can anyone give me feed back on a Jalli 24" pc. dual 55w bulbs. Are these German style bulbs? What does that mean? Are those more/less than other pc bulbs. Is the brand reliable? can the ballast also take 65w bulbs like the jbl Formosa delux? Any feedback would be appreciated.

How long are the bulbs?

do I use the paper instead of the carbon? and then rince out the paper more often rather than buying new carbon? Is carbon better overall, i.e. for bacteria grouth, etc?

That is pretty depressing. It seems pretty hard to get 150 watts on top of a 30 gal tank. I see the power compacts at 24 inches that have a double actinic and a double natural bulb(Two thin tubes for each bulb) and I think it only puts out 65 watts. (Or could that be 65 per bulb?) and the cost...

I also went through the Damn Damsel Cycle. Pulled my LR out of the tank and into a bucket to get at those little buggers. Much happier with my set up now. Every one with a good personality.

thanks all for your input. My CBS molted w/in 2 days of introduction as well. I think he eats alot also. For Katara, I dont know anything about the gold ones but one of my lfs has a few and they do look cool. I dont know if they are more inclined to come out as my regular CBS only really shows...
