    Have you ever tried dosing a carbon source such as vinegar,sugar or vodka. ? having a carbon source for other nutrients to use will and cure a lot of algae trouble. I NEVER clean my glass on one of the reef tanks I have, do to dosing sugar. don't have to. I would get your nitrate re-checked...

    Sump return runs dry

    increase your drain pipes from your over flow box to 1.5 inch PVC. and fill your tank so it fills your sump all the way till it's about 1 inch from the top turn on the return pump and you should be fine.

    that's the only way to get them off is to pull them in sections. you can cut the old frame into smaller pieces with a hack saw blade and peel it off then scrape the old silicone off and clean the rest up with alcohol.

    550 gallon DIY lagoon, 55 gallon RR refuge, 25 gallon sump. change 100 gallons every 2 weeks and change out 5 micron filter sock each morning. pretty easy.

    how full is your sump when you have all power turned off. it should be nearly full with nothing running. this will be your max. fill when there is a power outage or when doing maintenance. with the sump full start the return pump.
