    Sick goniopora

make sure it is in a low flow, but moderate lighting area. You will need to cut down the nutrients in the tank asap if you are going to have any chance at saving it. The brown stuff is algae growing on the coral's skeleton, where polyps have recently died off. Lower the amount of feedings you...

Can they survive just off krill?

best to give your critters (fish/corals) variety. I would go to your grocery store, at the seafood counter and just get one piece of each of the different raw seafood they have then chop it up into bits and feed the tank. your fish and corals are not going to be as healthy as possible without...

    peppermint shrimp ate my Duncan

most shrimps will wrestle food out of your corals mouth if given the chance. I usually hand a piece of food to the shrimp when feeding the tank to keep him 'occupied' while I feed the corals. Peppermint shrimp are not coral eaters HOWEVER there are many species of shrimp being sold as...

The best place to put the frogspawn

Id say half way up the rockwork, and then just experiment with the flow. The coral will expand more in lower flow, but you dont want it to be stagnant like, so I would put it in medium flow. Have fun! Jess

flakes and frozen food or just frozen?

dont feed flake, they do more bad than good. Think about nature, your fish and corals would eat meaty foods, algae, zooplankton or other microscopic crustaceans (pick up some cyclops) ... flake food does not fit into this diet. I also have used it before when going out of town, but most of the...

Okay, so I'm looking to start with corals...

you should wait another 3-4 months before adding an anemone. I also think that your lighting is borderline. I would upgrade the lighting (youll have 3-4 months to save money) and just buy a new 150w sunpod or equivalent. You wont be sorry you upgraded. In the mean time, get some mushrooms...

Do I have enough light for an anemone???

roses are so beautiful! you will be so happy with it. Make sure you just let it go wherever it wants (it will move around a little at first until it finds a spot it likes) and although some people say that feeding is not necessary, you will see more expansion and growth if you feed it a few...

    need some quick advice

put it as close to the light as possible, give it medium flow and most importantly, keep the algae from growing on the skeleton. If algae grows on the skeleton, it is very unlikely it will recover. Good Luck though! Jess

    nanocube 24g

there are alot of different sites that do buying and selling of used equipment and coral (this one used to do selling and trading between members, but then stopped). I would also check the ---- auctions. There are usually some good deals. 150w will support pretty much anything. I have a 150w 14k...

Challenge of the day - Identify this please...

+1 pluck it out of your tank and take the rock out if possible and scrub it under freshwater or something. Bryopsis is a terribly invasive algae that takes over. Its actually kinda cute in my opinion... until it takes over the coral. Eradicate it before you are sorry. Good Luck Jess

    my new harlequin pair

I dont have a video yet, they are kinda shy and only come out when hungry. When I gave them a new star last week, the male came out, tackled the star and brought it back to the cave, while the lazy female let him do all the work! lol Also, if you have harlequins please feel free to post them in...
