She came home with a new carpet

I've never seen anything like this. It's almost as colorful as a Ricordea, green tips, red, orange, with a magenta - snakeskin looking base, it's huge.

    plate coral/not dinner plate

so the Heniochus A. is supposed to be reef safe but one has been pecking away at the new orange plate. Not having the option of moving him at this time, I covered the plate with a lid that I cut from a water container (clear plastic). A small section, like 5%, is no longer orange now. What, if...

    orange plate coral

What is their favorite food? I'm new to coral and this one just got here today, it looks extended now, so before I turn the halide off I'd like to feed him, any suggestions? The tank parameters are "perfect" as of midnight yesterday.

    they sent me a monster

for $65 you usually get a 3 or 4 inch trigger. Well this queen is 8 inches plus......he belongs in a state aquarium! So, I'm off to the LFS guy that's pretty cool about stuff, to shop for a hot tub sized aquarium................He just ate 1/4 lb of shrimp

    Bio Spira

I took Johnthefishguy's advice and just ordered 2 packages of this stuff......man, it's hard to find, but if it works like they say it does, this should be great. It's supposed to cycle a tank in 24 hours.

    any BLACK SAND tank photos

Just filled a 40 breeder with 2 inches of black sand. The tank's not even full yet, has about 10 gallons in it, the sand looks cool so far, a little greyer than black, but wanted to see a seasoned tank with black sand before I use it in the other 2 - 20 gallon tanks.

    MH light intensity

Is there a meter designed for reading the correct amount of light under the water, something a photographers light meter? There must be a trick/shortcut to know if there's too much or too little light for specific coral / actinaria types..... If you have the versatility of a pendant light, it...

    Phosphates Everywhere

We just got another 30 gallons of RO water from the LFS. Tested the tap water at the house, and it read 0.5 on the freshwater phosphate scale, so we decided to get the RO water for water changes, instead of the distilled water by the gallon at the supermarket ( RO is cheaper and comes in 5...

    ID wanted, better picture today

We found this little guy again for a better photo. Anyone ever see this guy? It's about 5/8 of an inch long, pure white under halide, and flat on the underside like a snail ( he's on the glass for the photo). Hey, JOHNTHEFISHGUY, if you're on the site, here is a better pic than yesterday's...

    Won Brothers Protein Skimmers

Seem to be built solid and reasonably priced, does any one out there have one? Do they compare to Aqua C in quality? The Remora pro looks like a good unit too. Tanks will be 55 to 75 gallon, without sump, so a stand alone or hang on tank skimmer type is what I'm talking about. I don't want to be...
