what is going on with the hermits?

It's not the blue leg crabs. The red leg hermits are dropping dead without any assistance from its tankmates.

    Blue Tang Behavior

I have a very large piece of dead coral in there that the tang prefers. The hiding behind the heater hasn't happened again since my first post. I'm thinking that it may have to do with the tang becoming stressed - we got a cleanup crew and many of the critters "invaded" the tang's coral We've...

what is going on with the hermits?

Not necessarily. We got bluelegs as well, they seem to be doing fine - haven't found any dead ones yet.

what is going on with the hermits?

Yep. I just turned on the light and another one bit the dust overnight. That's three that I'm *aware* of, although I don't see too many of them. The blueleg hermits seem to be more active.

How long has the twenty gallon been set up, and are you sure the test you ran on that tank was good?

    Blue Tang Behavior

I'd be pretty surprised if the tank was too cold. I had an angelfish (freshwater) that used to do this once in a long while. It didn't freak me out any less...

Poll: Vote - 29 Gal. or 55 Gal.?

    55. Things can get really bad really quickly in a smaller tank.

    Blue Tang Behavior

Okay, so I got up this morning and our blue tang was lodged in between the heater and the glass. So I'm thinking "happy thanksgiving to me, the tang is dead" I come back 5 minutes later to fish it out, and it's swimming around... Is this normal? I know blue tangs do some weird stuff - the fish...

    Aggressive LR hitchiker CRAB?

I'ver noticed a lot of posts about mantis shrimp becoming unwanted inhabitants of tanks, but has anyone heard of a crab this happens with? I spoke to someone this morning that swore a nasty bugger is killing their small low swimming fish...

What would be considered a "reef tank"

Whoa... Sounds to me like the reef tank shoud be a new set up in another tank then... And, thank you for your opinion, much appreciated. Unfortunatly when we started we got our information from the "evil LFS", lol. It amazes me how these people stay in business - they sold us a blue tang which...

What would be considered a "reef tank"

Dude, your avatar rocks!! :D I have live sand in the set-up currently. We're discussing LR and I have been trying to get a grip on the curing/acclimating process prior to the investment (tank currently has two fish and various inverts). The main concern I had really was the difference. Reef...

What would be considered a "reef tank"

Yes, incredibly dumb question I'm sure, but is there a difference between a "reef tank" and a "tank with LR in it"? Thanks in advance to anyone willing to edumacate me.

    Blue Hippo Tang

:D The tank is too small (this was something I pointed out to the purchaser of the fish) and the tang is small as well. Thanks for the suggestion of dried seaweed as well, didn't think of that. One more thing... we have a lemon damsel that is currently being separted from the tang (it was...

    Blue Hippo Tang

Hello there We just purchased a blue hippo tang from a local store - it appears to have lateral line disease (sp?). From what I've read so far, the tang needs a pretty varied diet. All said, is there anything particular we can do, what is the proper diet for this fish, and a stupid question...
