    serious algae

My tests all seem ok. ph-8.2, SG- a little high right now, I need to add some water, 1.027, and all others are about zero. I have always had an algea problem, and my nitrates always tests zero. My tank has been running since November last year. I use an Ehiem canister filter, and I have a...

    serious algae

I have a no kidding algea breeding tank. It's 30g reef w/CSL moonlight, which is 2X65W, and I keep that on for a normal dusk/day/dawn setup. I've tried using a carbon/phosephate soaking material in my filter changed every week for a month or so, and I've been doing 7g (25%) water changes every...

    pesty valentini puffer

Has anyone had a problem with a valentini and clownfish or shrimp. My puffer which I got about two weeks ago has started to really tear up my percula clownfish's fins and took out the antennas off my fire shrimp. He's goin back today! Will the fins and antennas grow back on these poor guys?

    dead fish

Beth, Thank You for the info, I think I have concluded that the water was my source of most of my problems. My tank is 30g. My substrate is about 2-3" of crushed coral. The canister filter has an output of ~160gph, and I have a Rio 800 with an output of ~200gph, so I feel I may have done...

    dead fish

I have an Ehiem 2235 Canister filter, with Aqua Chargers media. 15Lbs of live rock. I have fed the puffer twice a day with frozen foods such as brine, krill, squid, and Formula One, always with Garlic Extreme and Selcon. I changed 25% water about a month ago. I cleaned my filter about a month...

    dead fish

I had a small tank raised valentini puffer and a fire shrimp die this morning. That was all my livestock except the hermits. They had both looked great the night before. The only thing I changed was adding a gallon of tap water because of evaporation. (SG 1.025) I have always used tap water...

    Hitchhikers?

I can't seem to figure out what these "bugs" are that are all over the glass in my tank. I know the picture isn't focused up that close, but they are white, about 1MM long and have a tail, they almost look like a "sperm shape". You can see by the pic that they are all over the glass. I have...

    new tank setup

It's nice to see someone else in here from phoenix. I'm wondering what LFS you're talking about.. If it's Aquatouch, they also tried to tell me to skip a skimmer, and add a UV with a FOWLR. Their livestock is very well care for as far as I can see. They use a variety of food with Selcon and...

    spot on clown

I tried to take a pic, but I can't seem to get it focused that close in order for you to see it. It does not look like it is part of the skin. It seems as though it is attached to his face. The spot is almost clear, but has a small tint of white. I've had him for about three weeks now. I...

    spot on clown

I have a young ocellaris clown with a small growth on the side of his face below his eye. It is opaque milky white about the size of his eye. It has been growing slightly for a few days. He seems unaffected, although, I thought I saw him try to rub it off on a rock. His young parter had just...
