i don't think it's been eating. it's about mid level in my tank, under 440 watts of VHO. i've tried moving it around; higher, lower, more flow, less flow. nothing seems to help. i try to be very aware of anything messing with it and i have not seen anything picking at it.

not sure why. i've got 4 48" vho's over it, 75 lbs of established liverock. other corals in the tank are doing fine, (frogspawn, xenia, toadstool, polyps, ricordia) it's not a branching, it's Euphyllia ancora. levels are as follows: Mg-1230ppm, Alk 7.6dKH, PH-8.3, CA-335ppm, trates-25ppm...

trates are around 20 or 25 ppm, phosphates are at .01, maybe .02 ppm.

what can cause low alk? Mag is @ 1230, ph 8.3/8.4, cal is around 335 ppm. alk with daily supplements of seachem reef builder, is hard to get over 8 dKH, i guess i could up my dosage but i don't want to cause any damage. adding 1/2 tsp to approx. 60 gallon water volume, (display tank/sump)...

should i... run my actinics throughout the course of the day, coming on before my metal halides and turning off after my MH's, running nonstop for 8 to 12 hours? or... set them up on timers so that they come on an hour or 2 before my metal halides and then turn off an hour or 2 after the MH's...
