    My Aquarium!

It's a 180, and the temp is around 82-84 degrees. DEFINITELY need a chiller! Leathers and mushrooms are fine, but nothing else.

    My Aquarium!

The aquarium itself (meaning the inside of the glass part) isn't the greatest for I need a chiller to be able to stock coral, but I'm proud of the stand I built (especially the design I did for the doors)! PS - I also built the cat perch that's to the left of the tank, and as you can see... it's...

    Diy 180

That looks great Murph! I'm making my panels out of 1/2" plywood, and covering that with waynescoating to match the bottom 1/4 waynescoating wall in my basement. I'm trying to make it look like it's a built-in cabinet, when it really isn't. The canopy is built with 3/4" maple, and stained a...

    Diy 180

Thanks ... I'm probably going to finish the canopy this weekend, and start on the outer shell of the stand.

    Diy 180

No specs per se ... just a 15 gal container that fits in my stand. I used a 1" bulkhead from the fuge to the sump.

... by the way, the tank dimensions are 72"x24"x24". I'm running a Mag 12 for the return, a Mag 18 connected to a SCWD and a Customflow, and my sump is a 55 gal tank, with a 15 gal Rubbermaid refegium.

... and two pics of the electrical work (I had to run a dedicated outlet to the tank because it was popping a circuit breaker in my panel) and the aquascaping I've started:

    Diy 180

I thought I would share a few pics of the stand/canopy I built for my 180. It's not finished as of yet, but I did put water, rock, and sand in it to start the cycle process. The majority of rock you see in the tank is homemade, by the way.

    Growing Your Own Live Rock

It is a bit of work, but homemade rock only costs .09 cents a lb to make. Plus, you can make it into any shape/size you want.

After curing, I just put them in that 30 without a powerhead, a regular florescent light, and one live rock with coraline. It didn't take long for it to spread to the homemade stuff ...

    diy rock questions

The hardest thing about making your own rock is just mixing the concrete/oyster shells (which is the recipe I used). It does take about six weeks to cure, but it's well worth the wait. I stocked a 30 gal tank at my gf's house with some of my rock, and it only took a couple of months for it to be...

    diy rock questions

It is WELL worth it! It costs about 9 cents a lb to make, which makes it very economical. Here are a couple of pics of my rock before I put it in my tank:

Squidd (or anyone): Critique Sump Design Please

I agree ... My job title is "Sales Engineer," so I think I may have over-engineered! I have to check how much space I have available, but I do have a 55 gal I could use for the bottom portion ... Thanks for your input!
