try looking into an aqua c remora pro hang on with the mag drive 3 pump. I've only heard good things about these skimmers. They may be a bit expensive (about $225) but its what im gonna use when i finally setup my 55gallon.

my instincts tell me not to buy the unit as i have previously went the cheap route buying a skilter 400 for a fowlr tank and ended up only using as a power filter.
