1500ma ballasts NOT required for VHO

If you want to know why you need a 1500ma ballast just look at a VHO bulb. My Coralife VHO bulbs have a litte sticker on them that says "75watts 1500ma T12". You need a 1500ma ballast to get the full effect of a VHO bulb. No two ways around this. Needless to say this has been an amusing thread...

    clowns

Its not as simple as placing them in the tank and they will breed. I highly doubt the young will grow in the tank without being removed and feed properly. Just trying to say its not like freshwater fish where the fish are born and you feed a powder food. They need very small foods with require...

Keep an eye on "Fluorex" lighting

I have the white worklight version (indoor one) and it works fine. For mounting i just removed the bulb and drilled 2 small holes through the reflector and housing. Used 2 SS screws and mounted to my refugium's hood. Added a 4" fan and presto! The only problems that many are having with them is...

    My Queen angel mysteriously died

Sounds like you added too many fish too quickly. The tank needs to setup and get established first. 2 months isnt a very long time. I wouldnt add any more fish for awhile and let things settle down. Wait atleast a week or two between adding fish. Also if the Queen Angel hadnt died, it would of...

Can I have tangs in my 55 gallon?

You can but really shouldnt. One would be fine for awhile until it out grows you tank which is pretty quick. I had a Yellow Tang in a 75g that went from 2" to 5" in alittle over a year. Also depending on the type most dont get along well in small areas.

    breeding damselfish

The eggs usually hatch on the 4th night just after lights out. They are free swimming and need to be feed rotifers and other small live foods. If you dont have it, Joyce Wilkerson's book is right on when it comes to breeding/rearing clowns (works the same for Damsels). Click here to purchase.

    Dwarf Angels

Forgot to add, read this. The Half Black is a closely related to the Lemon Peel so its not a good idea to keep them in the same tank. Maybe if your tank was alot bigger it might be doable. I wouldnt risk it.

    Dwarf Angels

You will have better luck if the Angels are not even close to the same coloring. A Lemonpeel Angel and a Midnight Angel will get along better than Coral Beauty. The Half Black and Coral Beauty have very differnt coloring. Adding them at the same time is also a good idea so they will both have to...
