Okay, found some A base daylight bulbs for my fuge at 6500K. My question is since the bulb only uses 9 watts, but claims the light of a 40-watt, what wattage do I use to calculate enough light? 9 or 40?

I notice that many drain lines leading to the fuge/sump terminate in a piece of PVC with several cuts about half way through the diameter. Is this necessary for less sound or bubble production? I'm thinking of just using a hose staight into the first chamber. Any ideas?
