Is my cycle even taking place? Is this normal?

Yes the NO2 and NO3 can be up at the same time. if there not falling you may want to varify that the test are correct by having your LFS check the water samples for NH4, NO3, & NO2, before you decide to add anything else. You really shouldn't have added things like snails and hermits until the...

    What are these?

Whether or not any shrimp can survive a cycle or not, depends on how hard the tank cycles. I wouldn't recommend shrimp until the cycle is over. You would better serve yourself by using Joes Juice or kalk paste. Actually if it cycles hard enough it will kill the aiptasia, but I wouldn't rely on...

    Hydroids, hydroids, hydroids . . .

I had the type u have a number of years back. And they got way out of hand as well. I got rid of them by making a very thick kalk mix and putting it on top of them. I did this section by section until all were gone. And then a final clean up of any that spread after the last section were...

Whats the most you have ever consumed?

I ate an entire larg pan meat lovers pizza, 10-12 hot wings, a larg salad and 2 beers in one sitting. It took about an hour and a half and I kept it down. Of course it was 13 years ago(I was 22) and I doubt I could even get half that eaten today.

    The Suprise Thread!

No surprises lately in the reef tank, but I got a real nice surprise in one of the FW plntd tanks a couple days ago. Baby dwarf cichlids(Apistogramma panduro). A dozen or more and from their size they've been in there awhile. I would have had many more if I had known sooner and removed the other...

    ro/di unit

Some people can get away with using tap because the tap in there area is of an unusually high quality. Most people however, benefit from the use of an RO/DI. If your in doubt contact your water company and ask for a copy of there last analysis and then weigh the value of buying a unit. 90% of...

    ID Please

If you never see any type of polyp extention them it is probably the remains of a SPS coral that died when the LR was harvested. That would be my best guess. HTH

how to get rid of mantis shrimp

Pet Warerhouse on weastern blvd in Jacksonville NC, has them and use to rent them for a few dollars. If you know what rock he hides in you could get him out by removing the rock and holding it over a bucket and sqwirt freash water oin all the rock holes he's hiding in until he jumps out.

Lost 4 tanks of livestock to fire

For those who are curious of the restoration of these tanks. All the surviving corals are in the 72G and I've restocked it, I have trned my attention to restocking the 125G reef next, the 90g FW has been restored and the 29g was idled full of water as the seals were questionable. It is still...

    Urgent ID needed

The Peanut Worms he's refering to are aquatic worms that live in holes in LR, and do not have anything to do with peanuts. And I doubt that's what they are, peanut worms stay in there rock and wouldn't be swimming around. There are tiny thin white worms found in the substrate and rock. They are...

Conte To answer your questions 1) No he never did show a pic and in a much later thread admited he bought it like that and it wouldn't fit when he got it home and just lied about it because he didn't want to look stupid for buying something to big for his tank. >Guess that didn't work everybody...
