    CurrentUSA Nova SlimPaq

Anyone have the scoop on CurrentUSA Nova SlimPaqs? They are so cheap, there must be something wrong with them. For one thing, they seem to be half the wattage of a normal T5 bulb for the same length? On the other hand, as supplimental lighting they seem to be a very cheap and easy solution.

Stand is Bowed, Can I still use it?

So I have my new 75 gallon up on the dresser I was going to use as a stand, with about 30 lbs of sbstrate, and 10 gallons of water in it. I can now see a gap between the bottom of the tank and the center of the dresser. The tank is apparently resting on it's ends, with no center support...

    DSkidmore finally spends some cash

Ok, for those of you not familiar with me, I've been lurking around here for months, think I have a clue, but havn't actually invested in a tank yet. As a favor to a friend, I'm taking some freshwater fish off of her hands. I will need to upgrade my freshwater tank to do so, and want to get a...

How much is it worth to handpick your rock?

I'm planning to get half my Florida Aquacultured rock from here, and half my rock from another supplier. The point of the other supplier is some high quality coral rock. For $50 I can have them pick my rock and ship it to me. For $150 I can fly down there, rent a car for the day, pick the...

My poor little kitties are gone!

I had to give up two of my cats today. I'm allergic, the two people that asked me to hold them until they moved both backed out of the deal (after my having held them for a total additional 6 months for them.) I found these guys at about six weeks old, ferral, in my backyard. I tamed them...

    How Nanno should I go?

My first saltwater tank is going to have to be a nanno, but I'm trying to decide how low to go? I've seen alot of postings on the board from people with really sucessful, really tiny nanos, but most of them have a larger tank that the water change water comes from. Keeping in mind that this is...

    Non-crashing Fuge

I was reading John H. Tullock's Natural Reef Aquariums, and noted two interesting things. Xenia is less likely to break down if iodine is kept between 0.06 and 0.08 PPM, and Caulerpa is less likely to go sexual if iron is kept between .05 to .1 mg/L. Any comments? I've read alot of duscussion...

    Flter Feeding crab?

I was checking out a LFS, and they had in one of thier coral tanks what appeard to be a filter feeding crab. He was white, about 1 1/2" across. His claw arms were at rest, but he had two others that opened up into fans. He would hold the fans in the current, and every now and then pull them...

    Florida LR vs. Fiji

I had mostly made up my mind to go with Florida Aquacultured Live Rock, but when I started scouting a good saltwater store around here, I've been told that Fiji is the only way to go. Following are pros and cons as I understand them, I'd appricate some opinions on the matter. Florida...
