    Coral Placement

I have a 55 gallon with 4x65W PC lighting. I am still trying to save up for T5s but for now I will try to make the best of what I have. I see that a lot of the LPS corals need medium-high light. Would the sandbed of the tank qualify as medium light? Everything I read says either "medium" or...

    Cyanobacteria

Wanted to give an update: I ended up shutting my lights off for about three days. I turned the lights back on -about a week ago, and still no sign of cyano anywhere! All of my tests have come out to 0 (except dumb nitrates, which are still at 5). The couple corals I do have seem to be doing...

    Not sure what this is

I thought the same thing but my son is only 14 months old. If he could fire silly string with that much accuracy, I may as well send him to college now :)

    Not sure what this is

These white things just showed up on my rock today. They were not there last night when I went to bed. It seems to be one long continuous white thread, zig zagging around. Does anyone know what this might be?

    How much liver rock?

one piece that is currently in there a really heavy ( ~20-25lbs), so although there is a lot of weight, it does not look like there is a lot of rock ( at least the way I see it) This is a pic of my tank currently - at least the best pic I have so far

    How much liver rock?

For a 55 gallon tank, I currently have 65lbs. I would like another 30 lbs or so to help with aquascaping. Would that be too much live rock? Can you have too much live rock?

    Clownfish compatibility

Can I have a pair of black Ocellaris and a pair of orange ocellaris clownfish in a 55 gal? My son is mesmerized by them and really likes the different colors but I don't want --- to be a last man standing match in the end.

    Looking to Upgrade Lighting

I have a 55gal running 260W PCs currently. For corals, all I have is some green zoos, a frogspawn and a kenya tree. I am looking into upgrading my lighting but am not sure if I should go with 48" 4x54 T5, 6x54 T5, or a couple of 150W MH. I guess my goals would be able to keep some SPS but...

    Cyanobacteria

I am going to try an fix this thing without any medicine yet. I have added a 350 GPH canister filter to help out. This pushes my total GPH to 1170. Plus the filter should help get rid of any extra floating stuff. We will see how it goes.
