    Id Please

The pictures are not very good, I will take some more when I get home from work, but I just noticed these rotifer looking things attached to the walls of my wet/dry sump last night. I don't see any inside of the tank, and I did not think any copepods would grow inside the wet/dry sump as it is...

What kind of fish is this?

I have caught many of these in south florida. Particularly in west palm beach, and although I've never tried, I've heard that they are actually good to eat and that on the drift boats a lot of people eat them, hence the nick name 'Hatian Hotdogs.'

help, adding water and cleaning sump

I am trying to add freshwater to compensate for evaporation and want to add it directly to my sump of my wet/dry filter. I have previously added it directly to the tank, and I feel it may be better to add it to the sump. Although, there is a lot of green algae/dust like dirt buildup on the...

    probably a stupid question

the sump is practically sitting on the ground in the stnad, and that is why i think i wouldnt be able to siphon any water into a bucket if they are both on the ground and at the same level, but i will give it a shot. the water level is maybe about 6 inches high, just parallel with the foam...

    probably a stupid question

another probable stupid question... Wow do i syphon out of the sump when it is on the ground (thinking it would be very difficult to lift the sump up from its place in the stand to be able to create a syphon). Can I buy a powered syphon, or literally do you mean like a wet vac? and is that...

    probably a stupid question

I've searched the forums but I guess havent found the answer as directly as I was hoping... I have a 75g tank with a wet/dry sump, and ever since I installed the wet/dry evaporation has been excessive compared to how it used to be, not sure if it is b/c of the open sump or the little bit more...

Trip to the Georgia Aquarium [Large Pictures]

I think that the fish you are referring to are called “Goliath grouper,” previously known as “Jew Fish.” I have a question myself… Do you know if they let certified divers dive in their aquarium like they do at Epcot? I just went to the living seas at Epcot a few weeks ago and dove in their...

    wet dry and ultraclear

I managed to quiet down the pump, and big thank you to everyone's help. But, now I am concerned about quieting down the syphon from the overflow box into the pre-filter. I have heard of drilling a hole into the u-tube and connecting to a powerhead in the tank.. this seems difficult to me, and...

    wet dry and ultraclear

It is submerged, and internal. It is a CA 1800. It is almost creating like a loud vibrating sound, when I push down on the tubing it makes it a bit quieter. Would raising the water level or maybe lifting the filter off the stand somehow help?

    wet dry and ultraclear

Okay.. I have the wet/dry set up.. and I am glad to see that when I shut off the pump the syphon seems to stop, which I am still sort of scratching my head wondering how that manages to work. But, My god the pump is loud, any suggestions for quieting it down?

    wet dry and ultraclear

I was told that there is a possibility that if I lose power, and the HOB pre-filter of the wet/dry looses syphon it could flood, this really scares me. Can anyone who has a wet/dry with a hob pre-filter please advise me for how to avoid this from happening? Thanks!

    wet dry and ultraclear

I am currently running a magnum canister filter and an aquaclear HOB on my 75gal, but want to get rid of the canister and replace with a wet dry. I am a little nervous about setting up the wet dry, as I know someone who had to replace their carpet 1 day after setting one up (I assume...
