    New to Saltwater - Need Some Help

    With a 75 g tank, I understand I need about 150 lbs of sand for about a 5" bottom spread. Can I purchase some sort of consumer grade sand locally and mix it with Live Sand? What kind of consumer sand? What would be the mix? Any idea of the time difference for the tank to cycle doing this...

    I also have 2 light hoods. One with 2 700 W bulbs and one with a 40 w. No other marking are on the bulbs that I can see. Have 2 heaters also along with a box of misc. chemicals, filter cartridges, test kit, etc. Thanks.
