I would go with wet dry and power heads for water movement. Canister filters in time become nitrate factories.

I took both my meters (old and new) to the lfs and the new one was right on and the old measured everything very low. So, everone should purchase a new meter every 6 to 12 months in my opinion to assure that the water is constant and the measurements are correct.
