29g, no corals, fish only, not sure about lighting, but it is pretty da#m bright!! Feel like Kramer on that episode of Seinfeld!!! Only been a few days since starting

I am not sure, is that where the water tests come in?? Won't the numbers get to normal levels if it has? We bought "bacteria" to help it cycle faster (maybe a sales pitch). it's only been a few days.

I have my tank going now, and my hydrometer reads in the normal range.. Now, do I take a water sample in to a lfs and get it tested? I havent bought a kit to test the nitrates, etc. If those come back normal, then can I put some freaking fish in?? My kids are bugging the .... outta me!!

ok, got the hydrometer thing working... just took a few tries and patience.... the needle went to the normal range.. whats next??

Thanks!! The filters are running (the back of the tank hanging thing). Do you get live sand from the fish store?? The hydrometer is a clear, thin plastic box with a needle in it. So i just fill it up with waterand the needle should float in between the red numbers if the water is correct, right...

ok, so this Fenner's book will explain everything to me. So I shouldn't add ANYTHING yet to the tank to get it going? I have read how long you have to wait on things, so if possible, I would like to start some process.. ANY PROCESS!! I know I am being impatient!!
