    Book Help

Many people have recommended the book The Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Fenner. I have been looking everywhere for this book (online and at home) and can't find it anywhere. If anyone has any tips on where I could pick it up I would appreciate it. You can email me at...

Setting up tank from scratch (newbie)

Thanks for the info. How much live rock would you put in a 125 gallon tank? I know I heard some figures before like 1.5lbs per gallon and such. Is this a good estimate?

Setting up tank from scratch (newbie)

Thanks for the info. Is there any problems with putting live and dead rock together? I wanted to use live but I am not sure if I should right away or wait until I get everything else going. Is it hard to change from one to another or to mix some live rock in?

    LFS in MA or RI

Does anyone know of any really good LFS in RI or southern MA? There are a few places around me but I don't think they have much saltwater stuff. I want to make sure I go to a good place. Any help is appreciated.

Setting up tank from scratch (newbie)

After doing more reading I am still unsure of where to start. What does everyone recommend for a 125 gallon tank for equipment? I am going to do fish only with sand. I was thinking of doing live rock but I'm not sure... I was just wondering what everyone else here would do. I am still trying...

    New Tank Setup

If I decide to go with live sand (which is what I really want) and regular dead rock, how hard is it to add live rock later. Is it ok to mix both? Also, would putting a grouper with a lion, trigger and eel be to much? If not that is how I might do it (not all at once, but over time). Thanks...

Setting up tank from scratch (newbie)

I am using a 125 because my friend needs to get rid of it and is giving it to me cheap. I wanted to use a 70 I had but I think it is to old. Hopefully if I go slow enough I won't screw anything up to badly. Can anyone recommend any good books on getting started or some other resources on the...

Setting up tank from scratch (newbie)

Thanks for the info. Although I do have another questions (umm, what is a UGF?). Since I have been reading a lot more I was thinking of going with live sand and live rock, if this was the case, what do you think I would want to get for filtration and lighting? From what I have read everyone...

    New Tank Setup

Thanks for all the info. I have been looking around and there are a few fish I am almost sure on (trying to find more pics and info). I would like to go with: Lionfish (not sure which kind) Huma Huma Eel (maybe snowflake?) What else would be good in this tank (125 gallons) or is this enough...

    New Tank Setup

Thanks for the reply. Well, in the long run money dosen't matter much. One of the reasons I am doing this is to occupy some of my free time so I should have time to spend with it. I definatly agree on taking it slow, I am just trying to learn as much as possible before I do anything. I am...

    New Tank Setup

I have seen some great info in this forum so I thought I would post this here. I am about to set up my first saltwater tank (125 gallons) and am trying to figure out what kind of equipment to get. Beyond that I am trying to decide on fish (what kind, how many, etc). I wanted a few clowns and...

Setting up tank from scratch (newbie)

I have been reading this site and the boards for a few days now. I am going to be setting up a saltwater tank (125 gallons) and need to start buying things soon. I was wondering what everyone recommended as far as filters, heaters, skimmers (needed?), lighting and so on? I do not expect to...
