    Building walls around reefs!

After more than a year, I finally finished my tank project. I took a space that was where my living room and hallway met and made a room divider out of my 90 gallon reef. I made the cabinets on the bottom, centered my tank, putting the sump in the cabinet underneath, then built cabinets on both...

    seeing stars

Just got a new marbled starfish to go with the sand sifting star I already had. He's cool to watch crawl over the reef and yet does not knock over anything! Anyone else seeing stars? Put em up so we can too!

    Feather Duster Quest reaps rewards!

Since I started my reef a year and a half ago, I have always been taken with feather dusters. I don't know why, can't explain it, I just love em! I have seen pictures of colorful one's, but all I usually see in my lfs's are various patterns of the brown hawaian, of which I have 3 different...

    Mimic Lemon Peel Tang

I finally decided to get a tang now that my reef is a year and a half old. I tried a lavender tang once and got the worst case of ich before it died you can imagine. After reading alot, I decided on a Mimic Lemon Peel Tang. He seems perfect for my 55 reef. He was very shy at first, but after...

    Home Made Refugium

I have a 55 gallon tank setup for about a year and a half now. I run it on what I call the poor man's system, which basically means I can't afford the "BEST" of everything. I don't have a sump, but I do have a strong canister filter. Well, I want a mandarin goby, but my sixline wrasse has pretty...

    New Angel

I just got this new Swallowtail Angelfish a week ago and couldn't be happier. What a great way to be able to keep 2 angelfish (coral beauty) in the same tank.

I have always used Instant Ocean. Lately I have been reading alot about special salt mixes for reefs, i.e. reef crystals, coral pro, etc. Anyone have experiance and opinions on these "specialty" mixes?

    Skimmer advice

I have a 55 gal setup and use a Penn-Plax Cascade 1200 canister filter. I want to get rid of my bak-pak protein skimmer and put one in line from my canister filter, using it as the "pump", so everything will be under cabinet. Anyone have this setup in use and with which skimmer?
