    I have read a raw shrimp would be fine to start your cycle. It will cause ammonia and then you will see it spike, then you will see Nitrite and will spike, then nitrate and will spike. After that your cycle should be done, and follow with a water change. I hope this helps.

    I bought a JBJ 24g Nano Cube DX and just starting to buy things for it. I bought 40 lbs. of live sand, is that to much??? or should 20 lbs. be enough? I haven't place it on my cube yet, but was wondering for your opinion..... I have read that 2-3 inches of substrate should be enough.
