Tried to make the tank quiet but it is now louder

So I tried to make my tank quieter. Just messing around with it really; the noise wasn't too bad. Well, now it is. I thought I'd be able to drill a hole in the overflow pipe above the water line in my sump so the air would have a place to escape instead of making bubbles (and therefore noise)...

Down-sizing, do I have too many fish to pull it off?

Currently I have a 40b that is in disrepair because of a lack of maintenance schedule. I have decided to pack it up for the time being while I am in school to save the inhabitants. Before I do that I would kick myself for not trying to make it work with a simpler tank. So my plan is to...

    Yet Another T5 bulb question

I've been looking around the interwebz for a bulb combo that will work for me. I like crisp blue/white lighting and would like to keep a clam if possible. Here is my lighting: 2x 30" Nova Extreme 2x 24w I read that 3 ATI Aquablues and 1 UVL Actinic White would look good but that sounds too blue...

    3/4" return to 1" bulkhead

What type of doom would I face if I were to run a reducer off of a 1" bulkhead for 3/4" pvc for my return line? So just to be clear: pump > 3/4" pvc > reducer > 1" bulkhead > tank. Possible or don't bother?

    Building your own tank?

How hard would it be to put together an 18x18x18 starfire tank myself? I've seen other people build their own tanks and it doesn't look too hard. I would get corner braces and black silicone. Do you just make a bead along the inside of the tank? Any help would be appreciated.
