the reason i need a small one is space. the stand the tank has has rasied shleves. leaving only limited space. now there are two sides to the stand and acces holes out the back and through the middle.

could a 15 gallon sump/fuge work on a 125 gallon tank. I think small sump/fuge would be better than no at all?

Day 8 Update: Picked up aragonite, salt and some base rock. Have been looking for and may have found a 15 gallon to use for a sump, it's even been drilled and looks like it will just fit. Any opionons on using this small of a sump on this size tank. I figure it's better than not having one at...

No the shelfs can't be removed without major redo to the stand, at which point might as well build one. How small of sump/ref would be to small to use for this size tank? Would a 10G, 20G, work? Day 5 update: Did some more trim work waiting for glue to dry, haven't gone to get the aragonite yet...

Day 3: found sand in some landscaping supply place. $19.99 for 25lb box? The brown play sand is $4.35 for a 50lb bag? Oh well, unless I can find it somehwere else by tomorrow. Plan for the weekend is to add the sand, water and salt and start up the fluval. Finish of the canopy skin and trim.

The stand is awesome and yes it is laminate, it did have a matching canopy but it had wood rot and all the metal screw, hinges, everything were just ruined. I thought about trying to save it. I also did not like that it was very short only about 8" off the water.

Ok I have been drawing out different plans for a sump and thier isn't much clearance in stand. Only about 20" I don't know if a sump refugium will fit. I think I'm going to go with a hangon skimmer it should stay hidden by the canopy. Anyone know anything about hangon skimmers or the Aqua Remora...

Back From Lowes, I can tell I'll be wandering the aisles of Lowes for the next 30 days. So I have no woodworking skills and have never built anything out of wood from scratch. I have a hand saw and some basic tools.
