i have 20 blue legs and a serpent star w/ my snowflake. he doesn't give them any trouble that i've seen. they all come out at night. i also have a coral skeleton that the star gets into that NOBODY can reach him from.

Hi Novice. There is a great little DIY project on about.com's web site. It requires no moving parts, electricity, etc. (pretty crafty, actually). It works off of siphon action. I haven't tried it yet (still collecting the parts) hope this helps. :cool:

Hey Mad Reefer: do you think that sponge on the intake of the pump reduces the pump noise? i am running my wet/dry with a rio3100 and the humm is loud. it sits right behind out couch too, which means it is quickly becoming an albatross around my neck!

i don't know what type of stand you have, but i have a berlin xl skimmer working off my wet/dry under my tank in a standard height stand, and it fits nicely. they have replaced the contact height of tall skimmers with a triple pass system. of course, this presumes you WANT to have a skimmer off...

well, yeah, i have bubbles, but could they possibly survive a trip through the rio back to the tank? its the tank water that is cloudy, really cloudy. it seems to be just tiny particles. i put a powerhead in the tank last nite just to stir the water a bit and get good movement in the tank...
