HELP!! Plate and bubble seem dead!

How do you know that they are dying? Can you describe the plate and how it looks? Check the water parameters - very important. Also the lighting could be a problem. :(

    Canopy, and wave motion

My personal opinion about the wave is that it looks pretty cool but you have cheaper alternatives. These things are usually pretty fancy and costs quite a bit. I know many people who have great tanks and don't use this stuff. If you want a cheaper alternative, get an additional nice powerhead...

    LS and Filter

Yes, they said that the sand will gradually get everywhere in the wheels and its mechanism and gradually block them and make them unusuable. Ever heard of that?

    LS and Filter

I read often that live sand but much better than CC. I tend to believe that as well but someone in the hobby for many years told me that LS will eventually mess up with the filter especially by bio-wheel. What do you think?

Basic question about PS 24/7 but need an answer

Greetings! I was given recently a Protein skimmer to put in my reef tank. I installed it but.. THE NOISE OF THE PUMP DRIVES ME CRAZY  Well... it works well but since the tank is in my office, I find the noise quite disturbing. My question is: Do you keep your Protein Skimmer 24/7 or do...

    Cleanup Crew

Well, all their packages are great. I was at first very skeptical about ordering through internet but I have now total confidence in SALTWATERFISH.COM and the way they ship. You have to choose according to your tank size. I suppose that the one you saw is the 100gal+ and that would be OK. If I...

How do I get my mushrooms to stay?

I agree with mlm. I did the same thing and was successful. I put it in the crack of a rock and covered it a bit with gravel. Actually a mushroom recently detached itself and I kind of gave up because it's really a hassle at the end... It actually placed itself in an area of low current but where...

    coral banded shrimp

My CBS is also very shy during the day. I barely see it. I have another tank with two fire shrimps and they are always out in view. :D

    Last/next fish suggestions...

I'd go for a coral beauty. Very nice and peaceful fish. Does not bother corals. Flame angels are wonderful in colors but a little more tricky to take care of (there has been lots of posts on coral beauty in the past. You can look through them) ;)

Can I have tangs in my 55 gallon?

I have a yellow tang in my 55g reef tank and he is the boss. Honestly, I agree with everybody above - 55g is really small for a tang. I've got some ick problems too - but that's almost a given with a tang and it was eventually taken care of in and by my reef. I just loved the color of the yellow...

    Goby's v. Blennies

I have a yellow watchman goby. He is the easiest fish I have ever seen... but he is not the brighest! Anyway, you do not need live rocks or anything fancy - just some hiding places for them. They are not the most fascinating fishes (in my opinion) but they are easier to take care of (in terms of...

    tank size?

I'm like you. I would love to upgrade my tanks and get something larger. AS everybody mentioned above, the problem is the cost. Bigger is nicer, sometimes easier (more stable) but you have to also think that larger means more money on everything. You probably need better filter, uv light...

    Help with clean up crew

Wow... 10gal tank is rally small especially with territorial fishes like yours. I am wondering about putting a shrimp there because it's going to crowd your tank a little. I agree with the post above: snails will help you quite a bit with any allergy - they are not bad. Maybe a couple of crabs...

does anyone have/had a harlequin tusk?

Harlequin tusks are great fishes. I've had one for a while. They are beautiful and good eaters. Mine loved frozen food (only). The cheapest I've seen them in NYC was around $50 but they are usually more expensive. They are quite strong too and if you get one of a decent size, they should...

    damsels

Do you have any live rocks? The cycle really depends of a lot of factors. It can last a couple of weeks to a couple of months :( About the popeye damsel, maybe you can check posts on other forums. According to the little infos you gave, I think that the cycle should be over in a week or so.

    New Fish?

These are nice colors fishes. My only concern is the Mandarin. I have never heard of someone who has been able to keep a Mandarin alive for more than 3 months without having a lot of LR and a mature tank. They are very picky eaters. I wish you good luck anyway if you try. ;)

    Starfish

What size is your tank? Boy... six damsels is quite a bit... I hope you enjoy them. Bottom line: is the cycle over? ;)
