    Attaching GSP

Nah - they pretty much (in my experience) operate as little individuals... Let's see some pics when they're open!

    Attaching GSP

Hi Chris - just keep it rubberbanded for a week or so (probably not even that long) - it will stick to the rock itself in no time flat. Make sure the there are at least SOME polyps that are able to extend. As long as at least a portion of it is touching, it will attach, and then start to take...

    Bangaii single/addition question

My LFS had an order of TR Bangaii Cardinals arrive about a month/month and a half ago. I was in there the other day, and they had one left (they said the rest sold, and knowing the folks at this place, they'd say if they died off... they've admitted as much to me in the past). Anyway - one...

    fast-tracking hypo??

Ok thanks guys - the two times I've gone through hypo I've seen the fish suddenly COVERED after about 2 or 3 days of achieving the .009 level. If that doesn't always happen, that's a pretty good reason to make sure you keep it going for the recommended 3-4 weeks! Learn something new every day!

    fast-tracking hypo??

Ok - like I said - I wasn't advocating it. It's more for my own edification. My understanding was that if the level is at .009, anything free swimming "freaks out" as it were and quickly tries to find a host, thus you'd likely see the explosion you read about. My curiosity was no explosion =...

    fast-tracking hypo??

Hi all - I was reading through Sep's postings with stdreb27 about the hypo process, etc (I need more to do at work huh? lol) and it raised a question in m mind. Suppose you have a fish in QT, who shows no signs of ick, but you want to hypo anyway as a precaution (like, say it's a tang that is...

    Another stupid fish-advice request

ugh on the sixline - I'm afraid he'd eat too many pods on the mandarin.... royal grammas are cool, but I already have a chalk basslet, so that's a no go... LN Butterflies aren't usually very reef safe are they? I like them - but I also don't want to lost the frags I'm starting... And wouldn't a...

    Another stupid fish-advice request

Hi Teresa - I was actually thinking of a carpenter's flasher.. but I didn't know if they are timid guys or if they're more active - all-over-the-place (more like a 6line)?

    Another stupid fish-advice request

That's my concern with the angels - that a) they'd be snappy to my little guys, and that b) they'd nip at the corals.... I love the flame hawks... but I have a couple of peps in there, and I want a cleaner shrimp, so I'm thinking that a hawk is out.... Blue or red would be good colors though...

    Another stupid fish-advice request

Hi all, I'm at a crossroads. I need to get fish for my tank, but I don't know what to get! Here's what I have: 90gal softie mostly, leather, zoas, palys, rics, shrooms, gsp, monti digi and cap, 2 GBTA. About 175#LR 30 gal sump. I have: Green Mandarin pair false percs chalk bass dragon goby...

    power compact and 90

I tend to disagree - it can be done. I purchased a GBTA from a woman who had them (mother colony splt 3 times) in a 30gal under 96w PC lighting. My 90 has 260w PC lighting (4x65), he's in the top third of the tank, and opened up and turned a brighter green than when I bought it very quickly...

    mixing water and salt

Hey - start with a little less than you've heard. It depends on the salt you're using as well as a whole host of other things.. but I use red sea salt and it takes me about 8 cups of salt to mix up about 20 gallons of water to get a 1.025 reading. Just play around with it to get it going -...

Really Need Help with PH and KH

I'll ask before someone else does - do you have a glass top or other issue that may interfere with gas exchange? What kind of turnover do you have in your tank? It seems low pH can be caused by, as you said, lower O2 levels... so let's see if that's the cause. And 18 drop (assuming you're...

    Another Algae Thread

Hey - thanks. I had read that thread last evening - thanks for giving me quick access to it again - never hurts to re-read! So - you think mexicans and an emerald are the way to go then? My only concern about emerald crabs is that I have, and tend to like, the smaller wussy-fish (e.g., I...

    Another Algae Thread

    Hi all, Ok - I'm having a hair algae issue starting to rear its ugly head. To start: 90 gal tank, 30 sump/fuge combo, 175ish # LR, sump = 10#LR rubble & big ball of chaeto pH = 8.3 Ammon & Nitrite = 0 SG = 1.025 Nitrate = 10 Calcium = 400 phosphate= 2.0 (yes, I know. DI started channeling on...

Thanks Joe - sorry I haven't responded - Christmas got in the way... so it wouldn't matter if I had 1 vs. 2 females? Thanks again. J.

    Flasher Wrasses

Hi all - I'm not finding much specific to my quesiton on here with searches, so I apologize if this is out there and I missed it... but... I've heard that flasher wrasses do better in at least 1 male:2female groups. Would 1 male:1 female do as well, or is it better for him to have a "harem?"...
