I could be wrong but i thought those little bugs were actually bad for the tank. I had the same situation and purchased a mandarin to alleviate the problem.

Actually the new fluval filter models are very easy to clean. They even have a self priming pump so it makes starting the pump easier. I would go with the 403, they are great filters, depending on the load of fish i think it should be enough filtration.

any type of cannister filtration is sufficient for a fish only saltwater tank. I'm really big on filtration so i would suggest adding another filter for supplementation. For a fish only a bio-wheel filter would be a nice addition. Good luck!

Sometimes that bacteria that you add to the tank can provide inaccurate test results. I had a similar problem when i was adding stress zyme to my tank and it kept on giving me false readings on my tests.
