    Crushed Coral

I'm gonna put it simple for you... DON'T GET CRUSHED CORAL!!! I have it and it sucks. I'll be switching to sand in a few day and I can't wait. Not only does it help get rid of nitrates, but it looks a ton better. Plus, because of the reduced nitrates, you won't have as much icky algae to deal...

Hard Time Feeding Blue Cheeked Goby

Well the title pretty much explains itself. I've been trying to feed my new goby, but like all gobys, it takes off into it's hole the moment it sees my hand. So I put food near it's hole, hoping it will come out. Unfortunately either my clown fish, damsels, or one of my two shrimp always get to...

    Stubborn Red Slime Algae

I've got some red slime algae in my tank. I already reduced the lighting to four hours. It seemed to work pretty well, after about 2 weeks, it was pretty much gone, but then it popped back up again, even though I still had only four hours a day on. It continues to grow even now after nearly 3...

    SW/Reef Newbie, Several Questions

You don't need to call yourself a dumbass. We were all in your position once, and it looks like you already have a good start. Your question on sand. The type of sand is really your choice, but the best stuff is the very small grainy type, like at the REAL ocean. Crushed coral and that works...

    Any suggestions would be helpful

what is the smallest tank size you can use for a saltwater tank?

In my opinion, no smaller than a 20. It really restricts what you can put in a tank if you go smaller then that. Not to mention if a disease enters you tank it will spread like wildfire. Just my 2 cents.

    Filter Question: Eheim model 2227

I've been looking for a new filter. I'd like a wet/dry system, though I really don't care. One that has caught my eye is the EHEIM model 2227. It looks like it could handle any problem I got. But I really don't know what makes a good filter, and a bad one. If any one has experience with this...

    Clover Polyps

Went to LFS yesterday to buy some LR. While I was there, my Mom offered to buy me something. After a brief discussion with the owner, I chose a Clover Polyp, because they look cool and are easy to maintain. But that's all the knowledge I have on these guys. Anything I need to know about them? Or...

    Coraline algea and damsels

Yellow Bellied? Do you mean the Royal Damsel/ Blue tailed damsel? (Mostly white with yellow bottom and blue top and tail). If you do then I had experience with this kind. Of the damsels, it is one of the more passive ones, but that doesn't mean that when they get ticked, or just want to pick on...
