if you were to pin the coral into the rock, wouldn't the pin rust after awhile affecting the water and livestock?

I bought a few bags of kolorscape and some grains seem to be quite sharp. Per Bang Guy's instructions, I'm trying to soak it in RO water to wear it down. I'm a bit unsure about this stuff. Should all the grains be white? there seems to be some black and brown grains in there too.

Its a dual (2 tubes connected) with a 4 square pin configuration. i think thats considered 1 bulb? I thought the actinic or 50/50 will be better for the corals?

i went to walmart and they have distilled water (i believe purple cap) and ro water (green cap). i bought some of the ro and the kh seem to be awefully low. any thoughts? would spring water be any good?
