    Green star polyps

I have had green star polyps in my tank for the last 4 months. About 4 days ago, I noticed that more than half of them aren't coming out anymore. Yesterday I noticed a red(deep purple) algae or possibly something else covering them. I can blow it off with a turkey baster, but it comes right...

    High Nitrates

I know salinity is low, i used water from my LFS to do a water change with the new tank and they keep it low. I like it to be at 1.025. I am going to start mixing water now for another change, using my own salt and water.

    Adding live rock

They cure the rock in a large bucket with strong flows of water and a powerhead. They also only have live rocks in their curing buckets, no fish, and I am pretty sure that rock can't carry ich. The cured does not smell fishy and has been there for at least a month.

    Too much flow

I recently purchased a 20 gal. aquapod knock off to transfer my established tank to. The new powerhead is way too strong. It is beating up all of my corals, no matter where I point it. Is there any way to slow the flow?

Bonebrake's 24 Gal. JBJ Nano Cube!

I think I read that you only use carbon in your rear chambers. Is that all you use or do you use the sponge? Live rock rubble? I am trying to figure out what to fill my rear chambers with.

    Filtration

I just recently switched my tank over to an all in one 20 gal. set-up. My question is: There are 4 chambers in the back of the tank for sponge, bio balls, carbon and the tube like pieces. Right now I have the sponge in the first one, bio-balls in the next and the last two are empty. I was told...

    Detached mushrooms

About three weeks ago I got a large rock covered in mushrooms. The LFS called them "green" but I think they are chocolate. In the past week two of them have detached and landed on the bottom. They are doing very well, but I was wondering why do they do this? Is it o.k.? Is there a chance they...

    Cured live rock????

I do have coral. Maybe I will just pick from the bottom of the bin, he has 5 bins or so that are at least 100 gal. each, so I am sure it has been there for a while. Would it help if I only added a few lbs at a time? I am looking to add about 10 more lbs.

    Cured live rock????

I have read that you still need to scrub it? If you have had no problems, I may just try it. I just don't want to send the tank through a cycle again.

    Cured live rock????

At my LFS they keep the live rock in large bins with water and a protein skimmer. Is this cured? If so, can I just buy it and add it to the tank. I haven't added rock since the tank cycled and I don't want to send it through another cycle.

    Too much iodine?

I have been reading that you should supplement iodine for corals. I cannot find an iodine test anywhere to see what mine is at. Should I add iodine anyway? Can you have too much iodine? What is a good supplement if I should use it?
