    Coral decorations

Hi, Fake anything will just collect algae. However, dried dead coral, will act as dry rock and critters will settle in the nooks and crannies, it will not however hold it's color. Rinse it off real good and you are good to go. Will coralline algae eventually grow on them?

    Coral decorations

Since I'm setting up a FOWLR tank, i wanted to add a lil color. I found a bunch of nice pieces of coral on CL that I want to add. They were sitting around in a box and are a little dusty. Is there any special cleaning needed before adding them? A couple pieces are too big so I won't be using them.

    Lighting Question

Hello, In my honest opinion you do not have to replace them, usually bulbs after 10-12 months tend to loose the color temperature and i have heard that they tend to lead to algae blooms!  That's what I have heard also. Since I will get the the normal hair algae because my tank is new, will I get...

It is still in very good condition and is being used now. Because of the age of the fixture and bulb usage, do I need to replace them if I'm only...

Help with starting a FOWLR tank!

It depends on how much die-off has occurred.  It might be zero days, or up to several weeks.  Best to add it and cycle before you add any fish. Thanks,..I'll most likely get the rest of my rock this weekend. Anyone have suggestions on stocking options??

Help with starting a FOWLR tank!

I converted my 120 gal. discus tank to a fowlr. you don't need filters. live rock, skimmer, and powerheads are enough. tank looks good. remember, if and when you add more live rock, you may start another mini cycle. even though people do it, a 75 gal. is too small for any trigger. these fish can...

Help with starting a FOWLR tank!

Hello everyone! I am currently converting my 75 gallon fresh tank to a FOWLR tank. So far I have added about 52lbs of live rock (will end up with about 75lbs) with 2" of live sand. I have left from my fresh setup, two emperor 400 filters. Are they ok to use? I also have two koralia power heads...
