I am new to saltwater aquariums - I recently got my sump up and functional but my refugium section is not very big. Would putting my skimmer in the return section of my sump do any good or should I just try to hang it on the side of my aquarium? - thanks

I have a cerith snail that seems to have some flowery looking thing growing on its shell. It was very small at first but now is more than 1/4 inch taller and getting thicker. I will try to get a picture if I can to add. Any thoughts or suggestions?
