Hi all, question??? I have a 75 gallon tank about a year and half old! 5 fish and starting to add different types of corals. I have always ran carbon in my tank however wondering if its pulling nutients out of water that corals might need????? please give me your opinions??? Dave

Is it normal to have a low PH during your initial cycle? I say initial because I have read and understand that the cycle never ends. Here is what I am looking at ... PH 7.8, Ammonia .25, nitrite 1.0, nitrate 5 . 65 gallon , 90 pounds of live rock , 40 of sand , oh and also cycle is at the end...

Ok i am probably to late asking this but based on what I have read on this site in the last hour I have to do something. I have 65 gallon tank with about 80 to 100 pounds of live rock(or about to die rock). I set it up 4 days ago and got a huge ammonia spike already actually two days ago...

so does that mean I killed everything on the rock with the ammonia being that high fo 48 hours??

well i thought my ? would be an easy one however now I am really confused. Are my readings normal ? Should I ghost feed my tank ? Should i be adding anything to speed up process ? And Joe what do you mean this isn't a true statement ?

Tell me if these are normal readings please . Ammonia = 5.0 Nitrites= 0.5 Nitrates= 20 PH in morning after lights out= 7.8 after 6 hrs of light = 8.0 thanks
