    Shrimp Motionless

Got my SWF.com order today, everything fine except two cleaner shrimp, both practically comatose from the start. The site says they can be expected to lie motionless, so I went ahead and drip acclimated, but it's been ten hours since tank introduction with no change. I'm beginning to suspect...

    Osmotic Shock Delay

Just a quick question for someone with shrimp experience. If a shrimp is suffering from osmotic shock, how long can said shrimp be expected to remain alive before it dies? I ask because I recently got some cleanup inverts, complete with some shrimp. Though I drip acclimated over a period of 3...

    Help my tang!

This is a very interesting story here, and I am at a complete loss. The other day I got a lawnmower blenny from my LFS. He had been in the tank overnight, and the next morning, was doing fine. Now, everything was great. I left for an hour. JUST ONE HOUR. I came back and my regal tang is...

    Peppermints and Camelbacks

Starting a shrimp tank, and since there will be no corals, I'd be safe getting either Camelback or Peppermint shrimp... I like them both and am leaning toward camelbacks at the moment; I noticed that not many people like them though. Other than the fact that they are occasionally predatory...

    Fighting Conch, Shrimp Temp

Setting up a 20 gallon tank for inverts only. No corals either. How many fighting conch would you reccomend for this sandbed, one or two? This tank is right by the window, and it has incandescent lighting, so I assume it will get lots of algae/diatom growth. Also... Since shrimp are going to...

    Shrimp-o-tank Problems... TAPE!

Well... I have two problems. One, I'd like to know the optimal temperature for shrimp. Since shrimp are the focus of this tank, I want to keep it there. Now... the second problem is more serious. I got this tank from my mother, who is a schoolteacher. She had guppies in it at school. Now...

    Shrimp-o-tank

I plan to make a small (10-20 gallon) tank for nothing but crustations. How often would I need to change the water in this?

    What's my new gague?

I used to use Nitrates as a gague for when to do a water change... but now, with my DSB, I have no nitrates, and thus have no idea when to change the water. Strangely, my 55 gallon tank with my new pet eel is not reading any nitrates either, though it has CC AND no protien skimmer. I have...

    Echidna Nebulosa!

Well, I posted this in the reef section but didn't get too many respopnses so I figured I'd put it here instead. I want a Snowflake Moray (Echidna Nebulosa) in my 55 gallon tank. The other inhabitants are a Banggai cardinal*, a Bicolor Pseudochromis, and a Blue Devil damsel. Will the...

    Moray Eel!

I was reading some posts earlier that said it was possible to keep a Snowflake moray eel with fish because they eat shrimp, not fish. I just happen to have a 55 gallon tank that is in need of something cool that would ordinarily eat inverts... Now, the question is, will he live in there without...

Opinion for Bang Guy or other expert on Bangaii...

I have two fish tanks now... I am planning on turning one of them into a damsel/hawkfish tank. The current inhabitants of each tank are as follows. 55 Bicolor Pseudochromis Blue Damsel Bangaii Cardinal 75 Regal Tang Flame Angel Yellowhead Jawfish The question is, should I move the Bangaii over...

Requesting pic of Peppermint Shirmp larvae

I suspect this will come from Bang Guy, the master photographer... But I have some shrimp babies in my tank and I cannot quite tell if they are peppermints or mysids.

    Dragon Wrasse

I really want one of these fish for my new 75 gallon tank. However, it has a DSB and I am not sure whether or not it will burrow too much and disrupt it or something of the like. Could I get one of these guys and have him live happily with everythig else?

    U-Build it is here...

Well, I have added my clean-up crew. I am very satisfied with the SWF.com U-build it, even though one of the cleaner shrimps died for no reason. I purchased: 50 hermit crabs 10 emerald crabs 10 peppermint shrimp 1 porcelain crab (Who is very cool looking, but I haven't seen him since tuesday) 2...

    Clear it up for me...

I have several opinions on this, but I need more. I have read that when establishing a tank with livesand, you add the clean up crew when the algae shows up and then leave the tank alone (no water changes) for about six months. Now... This seems weird to me... Do I do water changes or not?

    Got some Detrivores

Well, a couple months ago I set up my 75 gallon tank. I threw in some live rock from SWF.com, but it was packaged so well that there wasn't enough die off to cycle the tank. I plucked a seriously ill fish out of my mother's freshwater tank (Yes, I got permission first) and threw him in to...
