    Hitchiker ID Please

I found this on this subject. These are probably foraminiferans. These little creatures are basically shelled protozoans, one celled organisms (Subphylum: Sarcodina - the amoebas). They form shells primarily composed of calcareous material, with siliceous material from sponges, or other organic...

How can I tell if my CC Star is healthy?

    Brittle star

There are a few things to think about with your brittle star. 1.Because you did not know he was in the rock, you were unable to acclimate him properly. Because of that he may start to suffer from acclimation shock. 2.The tank should be established for some time before adding stars. But again...

Ya, I have a lot of them in every tank but the one the puffer is in. within 24hr of placing him in that tank he had eaten everything he could get in his mouth, mini brittles, snails and so on.

    cc stars

Yes, I have a cc stars as well as many serpent stars. The cc stars are very active in a tank and are a joy to for the kids. But they are NOT reef safe and will eat anything it can catch as they do move pretty fast for a star.

    cc stars

Every star cc star I have ever seen goes to the top of the tank and will bend over and act like it’s reaching for something. As far as the cc star blowing up and the deflating, I have noted this behavior only on the cc stars that are not getting enough to eat. I have noted mine and others blow...

    "Slime puddles" floating on surface

Do you have micro bubbles in the tank? I have a tank with them and if I do not run my protein skimmer, after a week I get this as well. Surface agitation will only re-entrain the sentiment. But will not remove it from the water without some sort of filtration or protein skimmer.
