is water comming out of it? do you have a TDS meter to test the water that is comming out? Thats the best way if you test the water and you are getting zero TDS then the unit is fine.

A LFS that does any sort of decent business doesnt have to worry about having a delicate fish for more than a week or two. Besides any LFS with any sense wouldnt order delicate species without having a buyer given that they dont have the means of maintaining the proper conditions.

I would go back to your 1st design with a baffle between the skimmer and pump section. And a ball valve on the intake into the refugium then you are good to go combo of your 1st drawing not pictured any longer and the last. If you know what I mean.

no, you need to add a water outflow to the refugium otherwise how does the fuge get water. also you need to add a water baffle between the skimmer compartment and the return pump compartment then you are good to go.
