I had them and they were spreading like crazy. Then i got a peppermint shrimp that ate all the small ones but left 1 that was pretty big so im just going to leave it since its not hurting anything.

What if I get rid of the mandarin fish? Would the maroons make it?

Also when you clean the sponges in the back of the tank do you clean them with clean salt water or the water you sucked out of the tank? And I also got phosphate pads about a month ago to clear the algae. Could this be causing any problems?

I have a 12g nano also. And I switched out the stock pump for a Penguin 1140 which is 300 gallon per hour. It has helped it alot. I had to cut the hole the water comes out of the pump though because the tubing already on the tank was not big enough.

So that nitrates won't ever go back down?

I have a 12 gallon.. With the following: I have a mated pair of maroon clowns which I have had since July.. 2 mandarinfish peppermint shrimp hermit crabs anenome and quite a bit of coral. I just got the mandarin fish about a month to 3 weeks ago.. But wouldnt the amonia and nitrites be going up to?

Yes i do a 10 percent water change every saturday, I clean all the filter sponges in the back and i dont think im overfeeding the fish eat all the food. I will have the tank 1 year in May!

Ive been doing water tests about every 3 weeks and starting in January there was just a trace of nitrate, feb.- there was 5.0-10 and now in march it is 20! When before it was 0! What could possibly be causing this??

This was growning on my live rock and I think it might be a green bta.. It eats shrim just like my other anenome. Can anyone tell?
