    A Fainting Fish!!!!

Not really. I don't think the fish is "fainting" although the behavior I am about to describe sure looks like it. I have a Yellow Tang that is about 3 1/2". Had her for 4 months. Always healthy, good appetite. Kept in a 90g with her best bud, a Maroon Clown. Feed a variety to my tank, flakes...

    Skimmer Mod...Is It OK?

I have a Remora Pro skimmer. Bought it used. It ran fine for a couple of months and then just has fizzled out as far as skimate production. The pump was making sime weird noises and so I tried cleaning the impeller. No go. I then put a new impeller in. It is still not producing anything at all...

Is My Protein Skimmer About to Die?

I am running a Remora Pro protein skimmer on my 90 gal. Been doing fine for the last few months (bought it used) it was pulling 2 full cups of skimate per week. Lately, not only is it making a strange noise, a sort of intermitent buzz, but it produces about a half inch of skimate per week. Is...

    Importance of Water Changes?

I am fairly new to the SW hobby...and so when others who are in the hobby share advice (with good intentions) sometimes it only serves to confuse facts and reasons a bit. Until I figure it out that is. I know of someone who runs a 150 g tank and swears you don't need to do water changes that...

    Expert Help NEEDED!!!

Not sure if this is the place to post, but I AM fairly new to SW. So, I recently added a CC star to my 90gal FOWLR tank that is 2 1/2 months old. It was a rescue of sorts, though the star is healthy. Anyway, this morning when I looked into my tank I saw what appeared to be little, itty, bitty...

Mag drive 9.5 too much flow?

Hello all, I recently purchased a Mag Drive 9.5 to power the wet/dry on my 90gal. Prior pump was a md 7, which I understood was not enough pump to run the system on this 90. Now that I have the 9.5 connected (what a job for one not versed with anything but HOB filters!) the flow seems to be...

    New Nano...Old Question

Hello all, I just set up a 20gal nano. 30lbs of LR and 25lbs of LS. I have an Aquaclear 70 running and a Coralife power compact. I am setting it up as reef only, suitable corals for the lighting system. I am confused as to the use/need for a protein skimmer. I, of course, want the water as clean...

    Skimmer vs HOB filter...

I am planning to set up my 50g as a reef tank. Going to start with the "easy" corals and perhaps add just a few fish (size appropriate for the tank size, of course). I have an Aquaclear 70 HOB filter (from my freshwater days, but it is new). Should I invest in a really good protein skimmer for...

    An RO System Works....????

I am new to the salt hobby. And new to the world of RO water. I posted several days ago looking for opinions on the various RO systems available and received some wonderful advice. The one thing I fail to understand, is HOW do they work. The mechanics I have a bit of a grasp on it, but say I was...
