question about return pump from refugium.

Thank you all for helping me out. I do have another question. Is brass check valve safe for reef tanks? I only see brass check valves in my local hardware store and wondering whether it is ok or I should look for plastic ones? Thanks.

question about return pump from refugium.

Thanks for the quick reply. The water is not coming back into the fuge from the overflow box. It is the back siphon problem. The hole I drill in the return head is to prevent/break the back siphon, but over time, it got clogged up. The return head is not that low in the display tank, if I raise...

question about return pump from refugium.

Hi, I have a 60 gallon reef ready tank with 10 gallon refugium. When I feed the fishes, I turn off the return pump from the refugium (basically cut off the connection between the main tank and refugium) to avoid the foods from flowing into the refugium, but when I turn off the pump, the water...

    what do fire shrimp eat?

I have a fire shrimp and three cleaner shrimps in my tank. They eat everything I put in the tank for fishes. My fire shrimp usually only comes out during feeding time. Since I use turkey baster, I just squeeze out a little bit of food in front of the shrimps and they will jump and catch the...

    coco worm question

I would prob leave the feather duster alone. I don't think it is a good idea to pull it from the rock. Just make sure your water parameters are acceptable.

    coco worm question

are you sure it is hard tube coco worm and not feather duster? I have two co-co worms (they are really beautiful) and feather dusters. In my experience, only feather dusters attached itself to the rock with transparent tube, co-co worm cannot produce transparent tube. (of course i may be wrong)...

    Simple question about Tangs

I would be more worry about adding small hippo tang if you have any angel fish rather than different shape tang (since hippo is similar shape to angel when young). I have flame angel and yellow tang and when I add a small blue hippo (similar size to angel), the angel chase him around. yellow...

my shrimps do. I have two cleaner shrimps and I saw them jumping onto pods and rip it apart with their claws. I used to see lots of pods on the glass even during day time. But that was before I put mandarin in my tank.

how to feed mandarin fish live brine shrimp?

Before I ask my questions, I just want to explain my situation so that I won't get flamed for feeding only brine shrimp to mandarin (no offense to some of you who tried to educate beginners, I do appreciate your advices). copepod and food

Thanks for your reply. Arr, I do see copepods in my refugium, but not as many as I see in my DT. Actually when I introduced copepods bottle, I pour it into the refugium to start with, so there should be enough population to repopulate, my only concern is they might be starving if they do feed on...

    top off water and pH.

Thanks, got scared there for a moment when I read a thread about buffering top off water. I guess I has been doing it right. One more question though, I have been adding calcium to the top off water to dose the tank slowly, should I stop doing that and just add calcium directly to the DT?

    top off water and pH.

Do I need to buffer pH for the top off water I put in? Since I am using the RO/DI water, ph of the top off water is 7.0. Do I need to buffer pH to 8.3 before topping off? I have been topping off water without buffering pH. Thanks.
