How many fish do you have?

My favorite fish are my yellow tail damsles. After keeping cichlids for so long in freshwater they just remind me so much of them. I have two that even like to dig in the sand and push small rocks around just like my african cichlids.

    Saltwater Mollies?

Most all of the mollies you will find in pet shops will do awesome in marine tanks. In fact they are found commonly in the Gulf of Mexico. I have been into livebearers a very long time and now that I have some saltwater tanks going I have mollies in all of them. Mollies by the way are also great...

Will an Eclipse 12 support ANY corals?

Yes the Eclipse 12 comes with a 24watt PC bulb to give you 2 watts per gallon. Mushrooms would grow very well and look very cool.

You can get noise filters from high end electronics stores and even radio shack. They plug into your outlet and then you plug your VCR, TV whatever into it. Should solve your problem.

If you have some type of mechanical filtration by all means use it. The cloudyness will go away in a few days.

    Emperor Filters

I use 2 Emperor 400s in my 55 and could not be happier with it. In a 4 foot tank like a 55 having two strong filters on each end is great!

Stumped, need help with my new 75 gallon

I use 2 Emperor 400s on my 55 and love it. 2 should work well on your 75 as well. You will get great water movement and the bio-wheels work as well if not better than the bio-balls will in a wet/dry. I got them for less than $45.00 each from <a href="http://www.petsolutions.com"...

eBay scam update on Live Sand

Not that I am denying that people did get ripped off here, and that it sucks. But isn't funny that one of the people who got ripped off also runs a web site for victims of people who have been ripped off? And for a **FEE** you to can fight back and send the offenders spam. Sounds kinda fishy to...

I agree training is a very good thing but who would do it and what would they train? Even on this board we all have very different ideas on the hows and whys. Compare fish books and you will see them contridict each other time and time again. And on the internet well lets not even go there. It...

    Setup for snappers (bluefish)

Also you should NEVER, EVER, EVER release back into the wild any fish that was in captivity. If you do you run the risk of introducing parasites, bacteria, or viruses that could hurt other native fish in the enviroment.

*****: good or bad? ( i need lotsa opinions on this)

One thing this post and others like it that appear from time to time all over the net is the need for fish stores in general to hire more or better staff. That is far more easily said than done. There are simply not that many people out there who know about fish who can afford to work for what a...

Dont flame me for this but im starting a freshwater tank and wondering....

One thing to consider with Fresh Water tanks is that live plants will also be more than happy to use any excess nitrates that you may have. There are a ton of live plants that grow really well without a lot of special needs. Anacharis is a very good choice and can just be left "floating" on top...

Quickcrete Sand Update "The fist month"

I don't know about Southdown but Quickcrete does wash their sand before they bag it. Also for those of you who can't find Southdown and who may not like the color of Quickcrete Toy's R US sells a SNOW WHITE quartz playsand that looks very nice. I almost got that but it costs 4.99 a bag instead...

If you go to any and I mean any fish store you will see fish that have ich or are dead and/or dying. Its just a fact of life in this hobby. The difference is that "good" stores will have staff people that go around and pull out the floaters a lot more and keep the tanks clean. I find it funny...
