    Over/underfeeding and water parameters

How does water parameters go from being perfect one week to a spike in ammonia/nitrite/nitrate the next week? Tank has been established for 4 months now. Livesand/rock, inverts, and two clown fish in there.. The only thing I can think of is overfeeding?? Which I don't believe I have..I...

    Something is not right..

Water all clear now.. I guess it had nothing to do with the water parameters and everything to do with my protein skimmer. I was without a good skimmer until almost a week ago when I bought a new one. Now that it's almost fully broken in it is skimming like crazy and the water is nearly...

    Is the extra filtration needed?

I just bought a Fluval 305 cannister filter but I have yet to take it out of the box because I'm still not convinced I need it. Any opinions? If I keep the Fluval i thought about converting my current HOB Millenium 3000 to a refugium of sorts or at least keep it as another place to store live...

    protein skimmer

I just ditched my coralife 65 since it started having serious microbubble issues. I ordered an aquac Remora and have been running it for a couple days now as an HOB. Style, quality skim, water return, and noise level are all better than the coralife.

I've had my tank setup for almost 3 months now and the cycle just finished. Not sure why it took so long but I have about 40lbs of base rock and 40lbs of live sand and my skimmer was not operating right for most of that time, which left my two maxi jet 900 powerheads and millenium 3000 HOB...

    Freshwater vs. Saltwater T-5

In doing a little more research I found that the 48" freshwater light includes one 54 watt 6700K Daylight Lamp and one 54 watt Colormax Lamp. The saltwater light fixture includes one 54 watt 10000K Daylight and one 54 watt Actinic Bluelight HO lamp. Currently I don't have anything in my tank...
