I agree with the Koralias...I have a 2 and a 1 on my 20g and I find it to be just about right. Good luck with the setup stage...it's the most important! And so far everything looks good!

And my own biggest mistake made in the hobby would be between: 1. Starting off with a small tank... AND 2. Letting my neighbor take care of my tank while I was away for 2 wks.

I would maybe opt for the Current USA Nova Extreme T5 24' fixture for the 20g. It comes with 2x24W 10K daylights and 2x24 460nm actinics. Of course this all depends on what you are considering having in your tanks. As a general rule, I would consider CF as a last resort...with T5s and halides...

How long has your tank been set up? It could be your diatom bloom (brownish stuff) which is normal and will go away on its own over time. Also, keep adequate flow and avoid dead spots in your tank.
