i finally decided to get some substrate for my 55. i dont want sand for the sake of filtration, just aesthetics, so im goig with 1.5 inches at most. what kind of substrate would be best at this depth. please specify grain size too. also, its an sps tank so its got pretty high flow.

i have a coralife ss 65. its hanging on my sump and the water is about 6-7 inches deep. whenever i turn my skimmer on, the foam overflows into the collection cup even on the lowest setting. does anyone know what im doing wrong or have any ideas?

I'm setting up my first fish saltwater tank and when I put the substrate (crushed coral) in, it obviously got cloudy. Should I turn on the protein skimmer, powerheads, etc., or should I just let everything settle over the next few days? thanks
