    Hard water problem

Well I checked again last night and hardness is down to 8 now. Not sure why it was so high before. I did a water change on Sunday night so I will check it again this weekend and see if it has gone back up. I do know the RO unit is correct and the waste water is going to waste.

    Hard water problem

RO unit is a brand new unit. It has made about 100 gallons total. My old one got to where it wouldn't make water even with a new membrane so I decided it was something plugged up. Besides, I wanted one with clear housings so I just replaced the unit. I do not use any additives. The test kit is...

    Hard water problem

The dkH is running about 18 with Calcium levels around 430. I use test kits and also quick check using test strips. The test strip has all three squares turn bright pink which according to the chart is extremely hard! The test kit shows 18. I may plumb my RO into the house source so the water...

    Green Algae on glass

The tank does not get direct sunlight. It does get indirect light just like the others. The snails were a part of a cleaning crew purchased from the Carolina coast people and consisted of Nassarius snails and Astrea snails. I've got some turbo's that will be here today. Hopefully that will help!

    Green Algae on glass

Yes I do have snails in the tank but never see them on the glass, just on the sand bed. I would expect a little algae to grow but this is a lot. I can clean it with the magfloat and it's back the next day. Close to the sand where I don't scrub is just about a solid green and can't be seen...

    Green Algae on glass

I've got a problem with green algae on the glass of my Red Sea reef tank that I can't seem to get under control. Below are my water test results. I do a 6 gallon water change every 2 weeks with RO water only. I use Reef Crystals for my salt mix and allow the water to sit for 2 days before doing...
