    Fragging micromussa

I have a small colony of Smashmouth Micromussa growing on a rock that I want to frag in 1-2 polyp size frags. I'm not sure what the best method would be. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Greg

I don't mind sponges being eaten, it's all the purchased livestock that concerns me.

    Queen Angel fish reef safe!?!

I was at one of my lfs today and to my surprise I saw a beautiful Queen Angel in the display tank. The tank was loaded with softies (no clams or lps or sps). The owner said that this is one of the few large angel fish that actual are reef safe. I asked how they would do in an sps tank but she...

Soft Coral and Zoos and lighting needs

I'm sure it will but always start your corals on or near the bottom of tank and over a week or two slowly bring them up higher in tank.

    shrooms melting?

Yuma's can be a challenge. I would always acclimate them like you do fish, not just temp acclimate and drop them in.

    220 gal tank opinions

I've never seen a starfire tank but I've heard they are really nice. That being said I have a perfecto and have no regrets other then not getting it drilled. External overflows are much less then ideal.

    sump pump. is 500GPH enough??

The gph will drop some by the time it get out of the sump and up and over into the tank. It may be enough for you although I would be looking for additional flow from power heads etc. One thing to keep in mind is that it will slowly lose it's ghp as it ages. I had a mag pump that seemed to be...

brown film algae growing on makeup water container

Interesting because I keep a lid on it, keep a maxijet flowing in it, but I use Instant ocean reef crystals. The only reason why I asked is because over the last few months the algae has naturally built up a little and I have been stuggling to get my ORP above 350 in my display. I use the ORP...

brown film algae growing on makeup water container

I have a 55 gal rubber maid container that gets filled with fresh RO water waiting for when I need it. When I'm ready to perform a water change I add the appropriate salt and turn on the heater and powerhaed. The problem is that I have a dark brown film growing on the sides of the container and...

    Green Hair Algae Help!

I experienced the same things a few years back. If you test for nitrate and phosophate and it reads 0 its because the algea is very fast at using available nutrients. Therefore water changes aren't going to help as much one might think. After trying sea hare, marine SAT, fish, urchins, snails...

    Rics ever split?

My experience is that they sometimes split but other times just develop more mouths. It may depend on the individual polyps.

    i got flat worms!

They usually do not go out of control but wax and wane. I have had them in my main display for a year or so with no issues. I now have some in my frag system and I don't want to spread them to other people so I'm getting flatworm exit. All that being said, many years ago I had an explosions...

    refug

Agreed. My 150gal D.T. has a refugium that hold around 8 gallons. It is very shallow thus creating alot of surface area maximizing the lights abililty to aid in macro growth.
