    Live Rock or Bio Balls?

IMO....live rock and chaeto are the only things that should be in a sump/refuge. besides a skimmer of course

    T5 Photoperiod?

you only have two bulbs with good PAR so you could probably run them as long as you want. within reason of course. 12 hours or so.

What lighting for a reef is best?

avoid VHO and Power Compacts. VHO has limited bulb selections and have lower PAR than T5HO. Power Compacts lose PAR incredibly fast and you HAVE to replace bulbs every six months or you will start having algae and stunted coral growth. T5HO or Halide. I prefer T5 for the bulb configurations and...

    anemone in powerhead....

this is why i have always steared cleared of Nems. the potential for huge tank losses if one dies and having to cover powerheads. not to mention they can wipe out reefs if they decide to move.

    Reef Safe Triggers

my niger and blue jaw/throat are great in my reef. not aggressive and they havent touched a single coral. my koran angel on the other hand was a nuisance and had to be removed.

    yes... another lighting question

on my 125 im doing 6 x 80 watt T5's. 39 watt bulbs dont have very much PAR, the 48" and 60" bulbs are the only way to go. and in a 6 foot tank 48" bulbs dont work, so 60" work almost perfectly. you can get ballasts, bulbs, reflectors and endcaps for under $500. and you will be able to grow...

    Mixing different salts?

alot of people buy two different salts. the most common combination is Instant Ocean + Oceanic. The Instant ocean has higher ALK and the Oceanic has higher Calcium. When you mix you get the best of both worlds.

Help my tank is getting too hot!

have fans blow directly over the surface. just get some computer fans from radio shack. you will have alot of evaporation but your tank temp will drop quite a bit. lucky for me i have a A/C vent about 18" above my tank that i point directly down towards the top of the canopy.

    epoxy question

Ive got the best of both worlds. Go to Lowes and buy a product called AQUAMEND, then buy some Loctite SuperGlue GEL. Mix your aquamend, put the Superglue on one side then attach it to the rock, then you put superglue on the other side that you are attaching the frag to. works like a dream...

    Which Salt are you using?

uhh.... you say above normal? normal is NO AMMONIA at all. your test kit could be bad. Or something contaminated your salt, water or your mixing buckets. you should never pour anything in your tank that contains ammonia. ive used Instant Ocean, Oceanic, and now Reef Crystals. never had a problem...

Shots of my 125 in progress

No reactors. Just use chaeto, live rock and a skimmer. The sandsifting starfish keeps the sandbed clean. He has been in there for about 8 months and he is growing.
