    Which metal halide bulb?

I know this is a very opinionated question and everyone will have a different answer, but if you could choose between a hamilton 14k, reeflux 12k, or coralvue 14k for a single ended 250 watt metal halide, which would you choose and why? If any one is running these bulbs on their aquarium please...

    Overflow box question

I don't think that the overflow box is more than 1200 gph. The overflow box was almost or completely filled, so should I raise the overflow box so it isn't completely full.

    Overflow box question

I have a an overflow box with two u-tubes and a pump rated at 1200 gph. My problem is that when I have one of the u-tubes running the water level stays the same, but when I start the siphon on and the second u-tube the water level rises in the sump. Basically, the overflow box is outpacing the...

t5HO lighting for 150 gallon reef

What t5 lighting fixture would you recommend for a 150 gallon tank that is 28" high? For this tank I want to have softies, lps, and some of the easier sps coral species. The sps will be at the very top of the tank by the way. I was thinking about the current usa nova extreme pro 12x39 watt t5...

Metal Halides for 150 gallon reef

The tank is 72x18x28 inches. I want to have four 400w metal halides spanning the tank. My question is I have been interested in buying commercial/ industrial 400w metal halide fixtures. If I purchased these could I just put in 400 watt 14k bulb and would this work for a reef tank.

Looking to set up a shark tank, any help?

It's best that it has a lot of room so it can live a healthy long life. There some other sharks, specifically a coral catshark and the marbled catshark. If I recall correctly they only reach a size of 24-26 inches. That is like half the size of an epaulette shark and you wouldn't need as large...

Looking to set up a shark tank, any help?

I also agree a 125 gallon is not suitable for an epaulette shark, let alone any shark. An epaulette shark attains a length of 42 inches, or 3 feet 6 inches. Imagine a 42 inch shark trying to turn around in an 18 inch wide 125 gallon aquarium (assuming it's standard demensions). If you decide to...

    New 20 gallon aquarium

I have a friend that has a 20 gallon aquarium a little over a month old. He has told me that his tank has some nitrates and he is worried about it. He also is worried about the diatom blooms or brown algae on the rock and sand. I have told him this is normal, and should go away with good flow...

    Dap aquarium sealant

Do you guys think that this would work to reseal a 150 gallon tank. Of course it's aquarium safe but will it hold all that pressure? If not, what would be a better alternative.

    Getting rid of scratches

Is there any way to remove scratches on a glass tank? Has anyone used cerium oxide? The scratches aren't that deep and can't be felt with fingernail.

    Used tank

Is there any problem with buying an old used tank? I know it holds water, it's just that the silicone looks old and I was wondering how long the seal should last. Also is there any way to reseal the tank so there is no chance of it leaking.
