I noticed the redness on his back, what is it? what do i do? is it normal?

I have a Torch Coral that has about 8 Heads in total...Recently, I have noticed the heads dropping off but totally intact and healthy. They seem to land somewhere and continue as if they were still attached. Is this normal? And what should I do?
