    Thanks for the replies. The tank is about 2 months old. Filter intake is about 4 inches from the substrate, I was just concerned that the sand could damage the impellers in my filters.

    Thanks for all the replies and tips. My clownfish is now feeding like crazy on freeze dried mysis and brine shrimp, just had to give it some time I guess. Been keeping feshwater fish for a while, this is my first try at saltwater. So far so good. Thanks again.
